Member’s privileges / Regulations
Each member of the library may take out six books at a time for a period of 28 days.
The fine for overdue books is 50cts per week or fraction of a week and per book.
Before borrowing a book, we ask members to check the condition.
Members are responsible for all books borrowed under their name.
If a book is lost or in any way deteriorated, it must be replaced at the reader’s cost.
In case of a change of address, members are asked to advise the library
How to obtain a library card
Any resident of Geneva can obtain a free card to borrow materials.
You will need to show a photo ID at the time of the inscription.
Children must have a parent’s or legal guardian’s signature to obtain a library card.
You must have your library card with you every time you want to borrow materials from the library.
There is a 10.- replacement fee for a lost library card.
Reservations
You may reserve any document in the library.
As soon as the document is available, a librarian will contact you.
There is a 1.- reservation fee for each book.
Renewals
Books may also be renewed before they are due back by asking at the desk or by telephone.
Renewals are only possible if the document is not reserved by another member.
What we offer
20 workplaces.
A black and white photocopying machine (20cts per A4, 40cts per A3).
Two OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) to enable you to search the library’s collection.
Search by author, title, subject and collection.
The library is divided into two sections : adult and children / adolescents. These sections comprise documentaries (or non-fiction books), reference books, novels (in french, english, german, italien and spanish), large print books, biographies, picture books, comic books, magazines, as well as a selection of weekly and daily newspapers.
Any member can read and work freely in the library.
